Mike Havener has been flying gliders since 1988. He became a Certified Flight Instructor, Glider in 2000 and has been the Chief Instructor for the Lake Elsinore Soaring Club ever since. He has now expanded his role in soaring community by becoming a Glider, Designated Pilot Examiner for the Riverside FSDO. He has also attained several awards along the way (shown above) including the most prestigious 1-26 Association Per Ardua Award as well as winning the Soaring Society of America Region 12 Most Active Instructor Award numerous times.

Mike is also an active participant in the General Aviation and Flight Instruction communities and maintains Life Membership in both National and Regional flying organizations. While he spends lots of time teaching and giving Practical Tests, he still manages to find some time to fly his own glider on occasion.
